Peggy Guggenheim collection in Venice

The palace on the Canal Grande that the Venier family started building in the XVIIIth century but never finished, was bought in 1948 by the american heiress Peggy Guggenheim to house her important collection of modern art. She promoted the career of many artists, including that of her second husband, Max Ernst. Paintings and sculptures representing the most important artistic movements of XXth century are exhibited, about 200 works by artists like Pollock, Mirò, Kandinsky, Mondrian, De Chirico.
